The trait of humans that differentiates us from the rest of the animal world is our profound sense of intellect, right? Something which was formed by the generational cultivation of the human mind.

This creates for us an ability to lead a mental life, one which is separate from our physical life. They may interchange with each other in variable levels, or even disassociate completely from.

Some clear-cut instances are;

  1. when you feel thirst yet choose to not quench it, even when you have ready access to water.
  2. when you feel overwhelmed by the thought of the impending workload waiting for you on Monday.
  3. when you're listening to someone describe their life and try putting yourselves in their place.
  4. when you imagine yourself immediately solving a public problem that's right in front of you, like the crumbling road infrastructure in your area.
  5. when you feel deeply for a war that's happening halfway across the world.
  6. when you miss someone who isn't there even when you know you'll be with them later.
  7. when you miss the idea of someone even when they doesn't exist anymore.
  8. when you continuously refuse to accept the reality around you and experience an existential crisis almost everyday.
  9. when you think about the future and dread about what we're laying down for our future generations to come.

These are things and situations that don't need to bother us. Yet they do. It's in these moments when you have what you need as a human but it never feels enough for you as a person.

The deviance of the mind from the body is becoming more and more prominent in today's culture of interconnected isolation. There is more information available about the world around us, hence much more information capable of bothering every one of us.

But it's also worth noting that this ability gives us the means to tap into and gain inspiration from virtually anything to produce something good.

Our duality has helped us so far. Now we require an approach that helps us understand the resources at our disposal and the possibilities we can create.

These only reflect my opinions but I hope they illustrate the point, which is to introspect the motive of the human mind to think & act against physical nature, which has led to the creation of both the best and worst of humanity.

This may arise from the source of our thinking capacity, our so called consciousness which leads to choiceless self-awareness.

All of this sounds like a lot, right? It is, but it can start with the simplest of things, like closing the door on the other room once in a while. Think of it as your annual/quarterly/monthly/daily maintenance activity.

Believe me, it's so easy to get confused between both lives. And before you know it, you forget which room you're in and how it's existence depends on the other.

That's when remembering that you live two lives reminds you to stick to the room closest to the ground, which is what you need to do the most.
